What is fibremaxxing?
Fibremaxxing is the 2026 name for something dietitians have said for years: most people in the UK do not eat enough fibre, so they try to raise it on purpose.
The NHS target for adults is 30g a day. National surveys keep showing that around 96% of us miss it. Average intake sits closer to 16–18g.
The useful version of fibremaxxing is not powders and 80g days. It is beans, oats, fruit with skins, wholemeal bread, and a bit of patience. Jumping overnight from 15g to 40g is how you get bloated and quit.
Use the 30g tracker with supermarket portions, or follow the one-day UK meal plan. Drink water as you add fibre. This site is not medical advice.
If you have a bowel condition, are on a restricted diet, or fibre has made you unwell before, speak to a GP or dietitian before you change much.
