Privacy policy
This privacy policy explains what Gutmaxx collects on gutmaxx.co.uk, why, and what you can do about it. It is written for the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018. Last updated 6 September 2026.
The controller is the operator of Gutmaxx. Email hello@gutmaxx.co.uk for privacy questions. Using the tracker is also covered by our terms of use.
What Gutmaxx is
Gutmaxx is a free UK fibre tracker. You can tap supermarket foods toward 30g without an account. You can optionally sign up so a daily log follows you across devices. This site is not medical advice and is not affiliated with the NHS.
What we collect
Without an account
The tracker on this browser stores the foods you tap in local storage on your device. That copy is not sent to our servers. Clearing this site’s data in your browser removes it.
If you create an account
On sign up we store your email address and a hashed password. We do not store the password in plain text.
When you are signed in we store, by UK date: the foods you log, gram totals, and any custom foods you add (name, serving, fibre figure). You can review and delete this from My log.
If you request a password reset we use your email only to send the reset link.
Technical data
The hosting stack may keep short-lived server logs (for example IP address, page path, and time) to keep the site up and to block abuse. We also keep a simple first-party count of which public pages were requested, by day. Those counts are not tied to your account.
Cookies
Signed-in sessions use WordPress login cookies so you stay logged in. There is a brief test cookie when you log in. We do not use advertising cookies or a third-party analytics pixel on Gutmaxx itself.
Why we use the data (legal bases)
- Contract — email, password, and daily logs so we can provide the account and the saved tracker you asked for.
- Legitimate interests — keeping the site secure, understanding which public pages are used, and loading the site’s typefaces.
- Legal obligation — if we must keep or disclose something the law requires.
Who else sees data
We do not sell your email or food logs. We do not take card payments. You never pay Gutmaxx.
Shop buttons open live listings at Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Asda, Morrisons, Ocado, Waitrose and Amazon. If you click through, that shop (and any affiliate programme they run) has its own privacy policy. As an Amazon Associate, Gutmaxx may earn from qualifying Amazon.co.uk purchases. Details: shops and payments.
The site loads fonts from Google Fonts. Google may see your IP address and browser details when a page loads those files.
Hosting, backups, and email delivery (password-reset mail) run on infrastructure we use to operate the site. Those providers process data only to provide that service.
How long we keep it
Account data and daily logs stay until you delete the account, or we close the service. Guest tracker data stays on your device until you clear it. Security logs are kept only as long as they are useful for running the site.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, and receive a copy of data you provided (portability). You can delete your account and every saved day yourself from My log. You can also email hello@gutmaxx.co.uk.
You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
Children
Gutmaxx is aimed at adults using the NHS 30g fibre figure. Do not create an account if you are under 16.
Changes
If this policy changes in a material way we will update this page and the date at the top. Keep using the site only if you are happy with the current version.
